ALL ABOUT KISHORE VAIGYANIK PROTSAHAN YOJANA (KVPY)
The Kishore Vaigyanik Protsahan Yojana (KVPY) is a fellowship program started in the year 1999. KVPY was started by the Department of Science and Technology (DST) and is conducted by the Indian Institute of Science (IISc). The main aim of this program is to identify the talent in the students and encourage them to pursue their careers in the field of research.
The program of KVPY mainly aims to assist the students in realizing their potential at the national level and it also makes sure that the best scientific talent is groomed for the field of research and development in the country. Contingency grants and generous scholarships are provided for the selected KVPY Fellows up to the level of pre Ph.D or up to a period of five years. KVPY also opens direct admission in various reputed colleges like Indian Institutes of Science Education & Research (IISERs), Indian Institute of Science (IISc) etc.
In addition to providing scholarships and grants, KVPY makes sure to organize summer camps for the KVPY candidates in the country’s most prestigious and educational institutes. Science students of class XI, XII and XII passed can appear in the SA, SX and SB streams of KVPY, respectively.
Fellowship Structure:
Monthly Fellowship (Per Month):
During 1st to 3rd years of B.Sc./B.S./B.Stat./B.Math. / Integrated M.Sc. /M.S., a monthly fellowship of `5000/- is given while during M. Sc. / 4th to 5th Years of Integrated M.Sc. /M.S./M.Math./M.Stat., a monthly fellowship of `7000/- is given.
Annual Contingency Grant (Per Year):
During 1st to 3rd years of – B.Sc./B.S./B.Stat./B.Math. / Integrated M.Sc. /M.S., an annual contingency grant of `20000/- is given while during M. Sc. / 4th to 5th Years of Integrated M.Sc./M.S./M.Math./M.Stat., an annual contingency grant of `28000/- is given to students.

There is no prescribed syllabus for the Aptitude Test as per Official Website, as the aim is to test understanding & analytical ability of students.
Students are Tested for the Subject-wise Syllabus as follows (Indicative only):
Stream-SA : Upto Class-XI | Stream-SX: Upto Class-XII | Stream-SB: Upto 1st Year (UG).
